Camden Leisure Centres - reopening information

Camden Leisure Centres - reopening information

Camden’s leisure centres, gyms and swimming pools have now reopened to both members and non-members following Government guidance

We have been, and continue to, work closely with our leisure partner and operator Better Leisure to make sure facilities are Covid-19 secure. Services and activities are being reintroduced in phases to manage capacity and maximise safety, starting with gym, swim and group exercise.

Keeping Safe in Camden Leisure Centres

To keep residents and staff safe, Better Leisure has introduced a number of safety procedures which can be viewed in this short video.

Leisure centre users must pre-book gym, swim or fitness classes and pay online remotely or at the centres by card only. Each activity is booked in a timeslot, the majority of these will be for an hour, however some group exercise classes will be shorter. Users may attend one activity type per day effectively allowing customers to attend 3 sessions, provided they pre-book and leave the centre.

Physical changes to the environment in our leisure facilities to enable social distancing will include:

  • Reducing the amount of gym stations and relocating some equipment to other rooms (eg squash courts) to allow a 2 metre gap between users
  • Reallocating sports halls as studio space, increasing capacity for group exercise
  • Only changing rooms in swimming pools will reopen initially
  • Doubling the width swimming lanes
  • 3 metre individual bays will be created within exercise studios to ensure a minimum of 2 metres between users during classes
  • Separate entrance and exits

For the latest information, take a look at Better Leisure’s frequently asked questions on reopening leisure services or visit the Coronavirus section of their website.

Virtual Physical Activity Resources

We understand that due to the current national lockdown to limit the spread of Coronavirus, there is a high risk of many children becoming inactive.

To help children and young people stay happy and healthy through this crisis, we've put together some of the best online resources we could find which can be completed in the comfort of your own home.

Below are some links to simple ideas and content to aid teachers, parents and carers in maintaining an active routine for children and young people. They will help support positive engagement, physical wellbeing, as well as enhancing concentration and cognition, to aid remote learning.

The resources will also help children and young people continue their developing their skills in PE during this period of remote learning. Many activities can be done inside the house and with no (or very limited) equipment.
