What Camden Safety Net (CSN) does
Camden Safety Net (CSN) is a specialist independent domestic and sexual violence advocacy (IDSVA) service. We provide support to victims of domestic and sexual abuse who are currently living, working or studying in Camden. We manage cases that are considered medium to high risk of significant harm or homicide.
- CSN IDSVA’s are independent from other agencies to ensure the best possible support and information is offered. However, due to the high-risk nature of our client base, we work within a multi-agency framework to ensure effective safety planning. Our role within the multi-agency setting is to keep the survivor's perspective and safety at the centre of proceedings.
- CSN conducts risk assessments, and safety planning, and provides non-judgemental, confidential support for all genders aged 16+.
- Support includes; navigating the criminal justice system, offering civil legal advice, and signposting to other specialist organizations.
- CSN actively participates in and contributes to safety planning at the Camden Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), a bi-monthly panel focused on high-risk domestic abuse cases.
What CSN does not offer
- We do not provide direct housing services. However, we are committed to advocating for and supporting clients in accessing refuge or exploring housing options. Find out more about housing in Camden.
- CSN does not offer support services to perpetrators. While we acknowledge the significance of addressing perpetrator behaviour, the role of Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advisors (IDSVAs) is to support clients and survivors of abuse. If you are working with an individual concerned about their abusive behaviour, then direct them to the Respect helpline.
- We do not provide support for cases involving harm or violence that do not fit the definition of domestic abuse, such as incidents between neighbours or friends. For support around this, contact the Community Safety Team.
- If the victim or survivor is 16 or 17 years old, you should make a referral to Children's Social Services.
