About the library

Highgate library is open for customers to browse and choose their own books, visit the children's library, and use our public computers and our study spaces.


You don’t need to book a computer in advance, PCs are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Access is limited to four hours per day. You can also scan, print and photocopy documents.

You can return any outstanding books, DVDs or CDs on loan within the opening hours.

The library has a number of measures in place to keep customers and staff safe.

Children's activities at Highgate Library

We have a great range of activities for children at Highgate Library:

  • Tuesday - 10.30am to 11am - Rhyme Time, with Fahd
  • Wednesday - 10.30am to 11.15am - Singing Stories, for babies and toddlers (term time only)
  • Thursday - 10am to 11.30am - Under 5s Toy Library - drop-in
  • Thursday - 5.30pm to 6.30pm - Chess Club, for ages 5-13

At the moment the Toy Library takes place in the Children's Library; the other activities take place in the Hall, entrance on Croftdown Road. 

 

The Toy Library is organised by the Friends of Highgate Library, with a grant from Camden's Community Infrastructure Levy. 

Singing Stories is presented by Highgate Chrysalis. 

The Chess Club is run by James, from Chess in Schools.

Rhyme Time is usually run by Fahd, from Highgate Library.
