Our Warmer Cheaper Greener programme provides a wide range of grants to homeowners, private tenants and landlords to help make their homes more energy efficient. There are three levels available:
Gold grant – up to the value of £7,000
Assistance for the installation and maintenance of energy efficiency measures which directly improve health, safety and well-being. In deciding whether other works are eligible, the whole life cost benefit of the works will be considered.
You qualify if you:
- Are an assured, regulated or private tenant and have occupied your home for more than 10 years (and have landlord permission) or;
- Are an owner-occupier and have occupied your home for more than 10 years and are in receipt of an approved benefit (for more than 6 months) or;
- Have children aged 18 or under in full-time education living in household with a total household income of less that £25,000
Silver grant – up to the value of £3,000 (plus top up of up to £1,000 if external wall insulation installed)
Assistance to help those who cannot afford to install energy efficiency measures, who are aged 70 years or over (and partner is 65 years or older), or low income families with a child under 18 in full time education.
You qualify if you:
- Low household income and are 70 years or over, or have a child under 18 in full time education AND
- Are an assured, regulated or private tenant and have occupied your home for more than 10 years (and have landlord permission) or;
- Are an owner occupier and have occupied your home for more than 10 years and are in receipt of an approved benefit (for more than 6 months)
Bronze grant – up to the value of £1,000
Assistance to help those who cannot otherwise afford to pay for measures listed below:
Repairs to central heating system where warranty has expired or parts aren’t covered
Loft insulation, including provision of insulated hatch
You qualify if you:
- Are an assured, regulated or private tenant and have occupied your home for more than 10 years (and have landlord permission) or;
- Are an owner-occupier and have occupied your home for more than 10 years and are in receipt of an approved benefit (for more than 6 months) or;
- Have children aged 18 or under in full-time education living in household with a total household income of less that £25,000
Green Homes Grant
Homeowners and landlords in England can apply for a voucher towards the cost of installing energy efficient and low carbon heating improvements to homes, which could help to save £600 a year on energy bills.
About the vouchers:
- the voucher will cover 2/3rds of the cost of qualifying improvements to your home
- maximum value of the voucher is £5,000
- if you are a homeowner and either you or a member of your household receives one of the qualifying benefits, you could receive a voucher of £10,000 to cover 100% of the cost of improvements
- landlords cannot apply for the low-income part of the scheme
- improvement works must be completed by 31 March 2021.
