Overview

The Camden Climate Fund can provide up to 50% of costs to reduce the carbon used in our homes, businesses and community spaces.  This includes solar photovoltaic panels (to provide electricity) and solar thermal systems (to provide hot water).

The Camden Climate Fund is financed by Camden’s carbon offset payments, which are collected through the planning system when new developments in Camden fall short of the Mayor of London’s carbon targets. More information on carbon offset payments is provided on the GLA website

Following a successful pilot stage, further funding has been confirmed however it is limited.  We, therefore, recommend that you apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Apply for household fund

Demand for energy in our homes is increasing, with technology supporting much of our domestic, social, work and (if you own an electric car) travel needs. Enabling your home to generate its own energy helps meet these demands and previous applicants are now reaping the benefits of installing renewables.

The Camden Climate Fund provides funding of up to £1,500 (up to 50% of costs) to support households and landlords install renewable energy measures to help reduce bills and cut associated carbon emissions. For private landlords, Private Rented Energy Efficiency Regulations introduced in April 2018 make it unlawful to rent out properties below Energy Performance Certificate band E.

Please note, you cannot apply for a Camden Climate Fund grant retrospectively, for works that have already been installed. Read the Camden Climate Fund: Household – Terms and Conditions before applying.

For those on lower incomes who wish to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes such as efficient heating or insulation contact the Green Camden Helpline to find out about additional support which may be available to you.

Community energy is a way in which communities can own, manage and generate renewable energy systems, which brings benefits to the local community. The Camden Climate Fund provides funding of up to £25,000 for community energy groups to install and manage renewable energy systems that generate energy for the benefit of the local community.  Up to 10% of the funding can be used for detailed feasibility costs.

Please note, you cannot apply for a Camden Climate Fund grant retrospectively, for works that have already been installed. To find out more, download the Terms and Conditions.

Apply for the Solar Together household fund

Apply for the Solar Together household fund

Solar Together is a group buying scheme for solar PV which is being delivered by the Greater London Authority and Camden Council. If you have not received a quotation through this scheme, please apply via the regular household fund page. If you are a business or community group, please apply through the respective pages.

You can apply for the fund once you have accepted your offer and your roof survey has been completed – confirming your roof is suitable for solar PV and confirming the final cost and configuration of your panels.

The Camden Climate Fund: Household – Terms & Conditions apply for funding administered through the scheme. The application process has been streamlined to align with the information provided to residents through the Solar Together scheme. Please review the terms and conditions before submitting your application.

Funding is subject to eligibility and availability and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Apply for business fund

Local businesses and institutions account for 66% of Camden’s carbon emissions, it is therefore important they take the lead in reducing their energy consumption.  The Camden Climate Fund supports small to medium business and third sector organisations across the borough cut their carbon emissions and lower fuel bills.

The business should be a member of the Camden Climate Change Alliance.  Basic membership is free to join.

The Camden Climate Fund provides funding of up to £10,000 towards the installation costs of renewable technologies and/or energy efficiency improvements. Such measures include solar panels, lighting and lower carbon heating upgrades. Successful applicants are required to match-fund 50% of costs, plus any additional over the maximum allowance.  For boiler replacements, funding may be combined with the Mayor’s Cleaner Heat Cashback

Please note the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is also available for some types of renewable heating such as heat pumps.  However there are rules on grant funding from another source and it is your responsibility to check what potential impact receiving Camden Climate Fund may have on any RHI payments.

Please note, you cannot apply for a Camden Climate Fund grant retrospectively, for works that have already been installed. Please read the Terms and Conditions before applying.
