Agar Grove
Agar Grove is the largest Passivhaus scheme in the country and biggest project currently under construction in the Community Investment Programme. The development includes:
- 205 council homes
- 39 homes at Camden Living rent
- 1 home for shared equity
- Communal gardens and new play areas
- A shop, café and community hall.
The project is split into six phases and when completed will deliver a total of 496 new homes. This phased approach means we build new blocks before demolition of the old ones so that residents only need to move once, straight into their new home.
The project replaces aging blocks built in the 1960s with modern homes and an improved estate design.
Phase 1a reached completion in 2018 and families from the estate moved into the first 38 new council homes that spring.
Passivhaus certification means the new buildings use significantly less energy to heat and cool, lowering carbon emissions and helping tackle fuel poverty.
In 2019, the first new block’s energy efficient design was awarded the top prize at the New London Architecture Awards.
Phase 1b comprised 34 new council homes that completed in January 2021, and 23 homes for sell that completed in June that year. Phase 1b also included two public squares with a playground and ball court, along with a café.
In September 2022, Phases 1a and 1b won the GLA Award at the Housing Design Awards.
Private sale or rent
All private sale homes in Phase 1b have been sold but there will be 84 homes for sale in Phase 1c, and 35 homes for rent through Camden Living, all completing early 2024.
