Male Sensory Support Worker (Communicator Guide) - BSL required

The Communicator Guide service supports adults and older people who have developed hearing and sight loss – known as acquired deafblindness. A communicator guide offers 1:1 support in people homes and in the community. We support individuals to do things they want to, not to do things for them. You will be community supporting 1 individual who would like support to access the community for 4 hours per week. This role in particular requires you to hold a valid UK driving license with the use of your own vehicle. BSL level 2 or above or confident when using British sign language.

Your Role

You will be working in the Stevenage area, in the community supporting 1 individual who would like support to access the community for 4 hours per week. The individual would like support with communication, shopping, dealing with important information and making phone calls. This individual would like the opportunity to get out of the house. They enjoy football and going to the gym. They would also like support in going to a deaf club and social events with a range of differing needs and or requirements. We do not provide support with personal care or administration of medication. The service also focuses on improving people’s wellbeing by listening to their future goals, aspirations and supporting people to explore their potential.
