Regeneration of the Tybalds estate in Holborn is part of Camden’s Community Investment Programme (CIP). This is the Council’s 15-year plan to invest money in homes, schools and community facilities.

In late 2018 Camden Council’s Development team began to develop proposals for new homes and landscaping improvements on the estate. We are working closely with the Tybalds Residents Association (TRA) and the Green Space and Environmental Services teams.

Informed by feedback from residents, we have commissioned two architectural practices to develop designs:

The regeneration proposals have developed during 2019/20. They incorporate feedback and ideas from residents and local people wherever possible. You can read more and download project newsletters and previous design iterations from the Tybalds regeneration information page.

Before submitting a planning application in June 2020, Camden Council are running a  formal consultation on the regeneration proposals from 25 February to 24 March 2020. Please see next page or visit Tybalds regeneration formal consultation page to take part in the consultation.

Formal consultation on regeneration proposals: 25 February to 24 March 2020

The regeneration proposals are for a number of infill plots on Tybalds estate. These are to be developed for 45 new homes for the Borough and an improvement to the surroundings.

Key aspects of the latest proposals are:

  • 28 new Council homes on the estate, including 18 social housing homes and ten 'Camden Living' homes
  • 17 new-build homes and two plots of land would be sold on an outright basis to fund the redevelopment scheme/li>
  • Landscaping improvements
  • Improved access to existing blocks Babington, Chancellors, Devonshire and Blemundsbury
  • A purpose-built community centre with two hall spaces
  • No one will have to move out of their home during the construction period.

These proposals would be financed by:

  • Sale of 17 private homes
  • Sale of two plots of land

Camden Council are running a formal consultation from 25 February to 24 March 2020. All Tybalds residents, members of the wider community and local stakeholders are invited to comment on the proposals.
