The Highgate Newtown Community Centre is based in an old Territorial Army hall at the bottom of Bertram Street N19. While the building is much loved, it wasn’t feasible to refurbish it in a way that would be sustainable and suitable as a modern community resource.

We worked closely with HNCC trustees and local residents to develop a design fit for the future. As well as community facilities there will be improvements to the public spaces, including a new courtyard area and a new walking and cycling route through from Bertram Street to Croftdown Road.

The plans include building 41 new homes on the site. This includes at least 7 affordable homes.

Timescale:

Preparatory works are due to start in Summer 2019, with an anticipated finish in 2022. HNCC is currently providing a range of services from alternative community venues in Highgate.
