Gardening and growing food groups for older people

If you are aged 60 or over, you can join low of no cost gardening groups in Camden.

Phoenix Gardening Group 

Free 

Digging, pruning, planting, growing plants from seed and maintaining the garden for everyone to enjoy. Everyone of all ages and abilities welcome, with tea or coffee and a snack at every session. Wear working clothes that you don’t mind getting messy and comfortable shoes.

Castlehaven Community Association run the Age activity 60+ programme. There is an annual membership fee of £25 and the offer to try a class before you buy.  

Do you love green spaces and are interested in learning more about gardening? From planting to digging, weeding to harvesting, these active sessions will allow you to connect with nature while improving your physical and mental wellbeing.  

Please note that these sessions are physical and sometimes messy, so wear appropriate outdoor clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. The qualified Environmental Project team will be on hand to answer any questions and to provide all the training, tools, and equipment you’ll need.

Men’s Gardening 

Castlehaven Community Association run the Age activity 60+ programme. There is an annual membership fee of £25 and the offer to try a class before you buy. 

Learn and practice gardening skills, make friends, and have fun in a relaxed and informal environment. Please note that this drop-in session is an inclusive space for men, including trans men, non-binary people, and anyone who is gender non-conforming.

Join our weekly community gardening sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays to improve your physical and mental health well-being through food growing and gardening. We always stop for a tea break and have time for a chat. No previous knowledge or experience is required, and attendees are welcome to bring a friend, family member or support worker to the session. 

The Elm Haven community garden is situated on the upper level of the Elm Village Open Space, and it is only accessible via stairs, making it not wheelchair accessible at this time.

Women’s Gardening

Castlehaven Community Association run the  Age activity 60+ programme. There is an annual membership fee of £25 and the offer to try a class before you buy. 

Our weekly session for women focuses on the benefits of gardening and seasonal gardening techniques. Our expert team will guide you through the process of cultivating your own garden while providing a supportive and welcoming environment. This session welcomes all women, including trans women and gender non-conforming people.

The Elm Haven community garden is situated on the upper level of the Elm Village Open Space, and it is only accessible via stairs, making it not wheelchair accessible at this time.
