Exercise for long term health conditions

If you have a long-term health condition, there are exercise classes and programmes you can join in Camden.

Chair yoga for people with multiple sclerosis by MS-UK

Register via the portal and choose to either make a suggested donation per class or join for £29.99 per month.

Two classes every week are structured to offer accessibility for anyone affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Each class is approximately 40 minutes long and includes yoga practice, guided meditation, breathing techniques and central practices at the end of each class. You don’t need to have attended classes before, as you can attend your first class at any time. Each class is structured in a way that allows each movement to be adapted to suit your level of mobility.

Classes held online every Wednesday as below:

Level one (11.15am to midday) will focus on exercises from a seated position. This class would benefit someone with core weakness and limited upper limb movement.

Level two (12.15 to 1pm) will focus on exercise in both a seated position and in standing, using the chair for stability. This class is for those who can transfer and stand independently.

Seated yoga – pre-recorded

Yoga has elements of relaxation and mindfulness, as well as gentle stretches and strengthening for your muscles. It helps most when you practice often, and over a longer period of time. Stick with it – the more you do it, the better it’ll feel.
