Who we are

The Community Safety teams work together to collectively implement and deliver initiatives that help all areas of Camden become a safe place to live, work and visit.

Within the Community Safety & Enforcement Service we have:

The Partnership Information Hub

The Partnership Analysts collate and analyse data to inform operational and strategic decisions. They create reports and presentations that summarise findings, trends and recommendations related to Community Safety. These reports maybe be shared with council members, stakeholders, enforcement agencies and the public.

ASB Team (CSOs & ASBOs)

We have team of Community Safety Officers and Anti-Social Behaviour Officers who each have a responsibility for a certain ward or area. Their work includes investigating reports of ASB, identifying appropriate interventions to resolve issues in partnership with internal and external agencies. 

Community Safety Enforcement Officers (CSEOs)

The CSEOs are a street based team tasked with addressing ASB, crime prevention and environmental enforcement. CSEOs provide daily high visibility patrols working with residents and stakeholders to engage, gather intelligence and enforce in order to make a safer and cleaner Camden for our communities.

Camden’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP)

Camden’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is a statutory body under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. The partnership co-ordinate community safety activity in Camden at a strategic level; to reduce crime and the fear of crime, to address the risk, threat and harm to victims and local communities, and also to facilitate the strengthening of Camden’s communities in the delivery of local initiatives.
The CSP is made up of a number of partners, including those from statutory bodies such as the Metropolitan Police Service, London Fire Brigade, Probation Service and Health Partners. The Community Safety Partnership Board meet regularly and in March 2024 they agreed our strategic priorities for the next three years. 

The priorities for 2024/25 are:

  • Drug Related Activity
  • Antisocial Behaviour
  • No Place For Hate
  • Women's Safety
  • Serious Violence

The priorities are reviewed on a yearly basis to assess the needs of the borough.
 

Reporting antisocial behaviour

If antisocial behaviour (ASB) is causing alarm or distress to you or the community where you live you should report this to the Community Safety Enforcement Team.

We take all reports seriously and follow a set procedure once we receive a report. Once your report is made, you will receive a reference number and acknowledgment of your report within 48hours.

Report anti-social behaviour

What types of ASB should be reported?

Any behaviour that makes you feel unsafe or you feel may make others unsafe. This covers a wide range but can include

  • drug related ASB (drug use, dealing)
  • youth related ASB
  • threatening behaviour, verbal and physical threats and abuse
  • vandalism and property damage.
  • using a property to sell drugs or for any other illegal activity
  • harassment including incidents based on race, gender, religion, disability, or sexual orientation

How to contact Camden Community Safety

If you're a Camden council tenant or leaseholder and the antisocial behaviour is happening on council estate between 4pm and 4am you can call the Responsive Security Patrol on 020 7974 4444 (every day)

What happens after I report antisocial behaviour?

Your report will be logged by Contact Camden and allocated to an officer in Community Safety

Once we receive your report we may ask for further information from you or consult with partners such as the Police, Housing, Adult Social Care or the Youth Offending Service.

You should receive an email with details of the action taken and a reference number that you can use in any future communications.

We consider factors such as:

  • how serious your complaint is
  • how often the problem has occurred
  • whether there has been other complaints about the ASB

We will keep in regular contact with you and keep you informed of what we are doing to resolve the problem.

If you want to report a crime, but you do not want to be identified to the police you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online

Crimestoppers will ask questions about the crime you have information on but will never ask questions about you.

Support and self-help resources

Victim Support

Victim support is an independent charity that helps people cope with the effects of crime. Free and confidential support and information is provided to help victims. They support and advocate on behalf of victims and informs of their rights within the criminal justice system.

The Antisocial Behaviour Project in Camden can offer emotional support, practical advice, and advocacy to those affected by antisocial behaviour.

There are several services across Camden that support those with mental health or substance abuse, you can find more information or resources at Camden's Mental Health and Wellbeing

Dog Hub

The dog hub helps dog owners across Camden support responsible dog ownership by providing training and advice and, in more difficult cases, behaviour modification programmes. 

If you have any safety concerns surrounding a dog, please ensure this is reported to the police.
