All landlords, including Camden Council, must carry out fire risk assessments on any properties with shared communal areas.
A fire risk assessment looks at:
- how safe a property is
- what the fire risks are
- recommendations on how to improve fire safety
The recommendations must be acted on to fulfill the highest standard of fire safety.
Fire risk assessments in purpose-built blocks
Camden will publish fire risk assessments for all purpose-built blocks in the interests of resident safety and transparency.

Outstanding fire risk assessment actions
In 2023, the Social Housing Regulator served a regulatory notice to Camden Council. The notice was related to the number of fire risk assessment actions that were outstanding at council homes.
We have entered into a Voluntary Undertaking with the regulator to complete the outstanding actions. This includes an action plan for continuous improvement that is happening across the Council.
