West Kentish Town

We’re working closely with residents of West Kentish Town to design a new estate with bigger, brighter homes, improved streets and open spaces. In 2020, the proposals were put forward to a resident ballot.

Ambitious plans for the area were unanimously voted ‘yes’ by the residents and plans are now continuing in 2021.

Resident’s consultation workshops held at West Kentish Town

Saturday 31st July 2021 saw the start of three face to face consultation events with residents of West Kentish Town Estate following the lifting of lockdown.  Residents were reassured that the regeneration is still underway and were provided information by the Camden project team and architects  that  helped residents to understand the process of master planning and the phasing strategy.

Over the three days 50 residents attended, all of whom gave helpful and positive feedback, especially surrounding the designs of the new homes and communal areas. Many residents noted that they were pleased with the layouts and ideas for interior design, as well as the proposals developed by the landscape architects for private and open spaces.

One of the most effective engagement tools used in our sessions with residents was the inclusion of the 3D architectural model.  The project team and architects were able to clearly explain the order in which they propose to organise the phasing of demolition and new build homes to residents using the model.

These drop in sessions enabled the project team and architects to demonstrate to residents that their concerns are being listened to, for example, what measures are taken to avoid ASBOs on the future estate.
