A powerhouse - Sally Warren

Sally Warren from Plot 10 is an inspirational woman. She’s seen three generations of children come through the doors of Plot 10 and ensures Camden families can manage work around the care of their children.

Plot 10 is a community play project at the heart of Somers Town. Plot 10 was the name of a WW2 bombsite in Somers Town. After the war, children around the country re-appropriated bombsites as informal playgrounds. In 1973, a group of local parents grouped together to seek funding and build a children’s play facility on the bombsite. Plot 10 runs breakfast and after school clubs, as well as holiday clubs.

Sally helps the children with their homework, encourages them to exercise and take part in a range of activities. She also provides work to local young people, giving them a step into the industry.

When Sally realised many families were going hungry, she found a solution. She reached out to Life After Hummus so they could provide food to those parents and children that needed it most.

Life After Hummus now provides food twice a week for the children who attend Plot 10, and any surplus food is given to parents to take home. Sally also makes sure the children get involved in preparing the food and cleaning up, helping them learn essential life skills.

She works tirelessly and cares for the community. She is a powerhouse and deserves to be celebrated for the work she has done and is continuing to do for the community.
