Repairs

Report a repair to our After Care team by calling 020 7974 6617.

Emergencies: if your repair is an emergency please call 020 7974 4444. Examples include leaks which can’t be contained and repairs which are a risk to health and safety or security.

We will attend as soon as reasonably possible to repair the following: Communal heating and hot water systems; lifts; door entry systems; and failure of lighting on landings and staircases. Our repair responsibilities are available on this page.

Home safety and fire safety advice

Security doors and grilles: You must not fit security doors or grilles or carry out any other alterations to your home without our written permission.

Smoke alarms: Remember to change the battery according to the instructions and clean the inside at least once a year with a vacuum cleaner. Test smoke alarms every week.

Keep communal areas and escape routes clear: Please do not let clutter collect in passages and stairways as this is a fire risk. The storage of personal belongings – including bicycles and push chairs – in shared areas could prevent you and others getting out safely.

If you have large items to dispose of, find out how to do this at camden.gov.uk/recycling or call 020 7974 4444 (select option 4). For more information: www.london-fire.gov.uk

Lodgers and subletting

A lodger is someone who rents a furnished room in your home. They have use of the
bathroom and kitchen, but do not have sole use of any part of your home. Your tenancy agreement says that we must agree before any new adults move into your home so you must ask your housing officer if you want a lodger.

Volunteering

For those interested and are able to do so, there are opportunities for residents to volunteer their time. Ask your housing officer about opportunities to get involved in your area email the tenant participation team at tp@camden.gov.uk visit the tenant participation pages or call 020 7974 7932.
