Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy

As set out in our Camden Plan, it’s our ambition to ensure that everyone has a sustainable roof over their head or is on a pathway to achieving this, minimising homelessness and rough sleeping.

Everyone deserves a place they can call home and our Homelessness and Rough Sleeping 2019-2024 Strategy (PDF) commits the Council to use its resources and creativity to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring.This vision is underpinned by the following four key priorities which have corresponding actions:

1. Preventing: We want to stop people from becoming homeless
2. Supporting: We will support those experiencing the crisis of homelessness, helping them to recover and regain their independence
3. Tackling the root causes of homelessness: We will address the long-term root causes of homelessness in Camden
4. Campaigning: We will use our voice to fight for a national response to the challenges of chronic housing shortage, welfare reform, instability, longer tenancies and homelessness

Our Strategy explains what we want to do and how we will achieve it, by working together with our partners and stakeholders. Alongside the Strategy, we have also updated other key policy documents, including our Homelessness Accommodation Policy (PDF), Housing Allocation Scheme (PDF) and our Homeless Young People’s Protocol (PDF).
