Copies of birth, marriage and death certificates
You can obtain a copy of a certificate for a birth, marriage, civil partnership or death that was registered in Camden. We also have access to former historic districts of St Pancras, Hampstead and Holborn.
However, If you require a certificate for an event that took place before 1940 you will need to contact the General Office (GRO) to order it. Their telephone number is 0300 123 1837.
How can I get a copy of a certificate?
You can order certificates online any time after the registration has been completed (please allow at least 5 working days if you have registered a birth by declaration at a different register office).
You can apply in person for our express service. Orders placed before 12 noon will be ready by 4pm on the same day. However any applications presented after 12 noon midday will be ready for collection the following working day by 4pm. Our address is:

You can also apply for the express service online. Please note that you must complete your application before 12 noon for us to process your request for collection for 4pm on the same day. If we receive your application after midday then it will be ready for collection the following working day by 4pm.
Please ensure that you have completed your contact details correctly (especially your landline or mobile number) as we will contact you when your application is ready for collection. Alternatively, if you would like us to post your certificate we will post it by second class. You can also opt to have it posted by special delivery for an additional postage fee.
Please note that applications will take up to 15 working days to process unless you apply for the express service.
