Apply for a copy of a certificate
Due to a large back log of certificate requests, we are currently in the process of phasing in certificate applications. We are now accepting applications for duplicate birth, death and marriage certificates for the period 1990 to the present.
We will start processing certificate requests for birth, death and marriages for the period 1940 - to present from Monday 10th August 2020. Applications can’t be taken in person for the time being.

Copies of birth, marriage and death certificates
You can obtain a copy of a certificate for a birth, marriage, civil partnership or death that was registered in Camden. We also have access to former historic districts of St Pancras, Hampstead and Holborn.
However, If you require a certificate for an event that took place before 1940 you will need to contact the General Office (GRO) to order it. Their telephone number is 0300 123 1837.
Get copies of certificates
You can order certificates online any time after the registration has been completed (please allow at least 5 working days if you have registered a birth by declaration at a different register office).
You can also apply for the express service online. (Suspended until further notice). Please note that you must complete your application before 12 noon for us to process your request. If we receive your application after midday then it will be processed the following working day.
Please ensure that you have completed your contact details correctly (especially your landline or mobile number) in the event we need to contact you. We will post it by second class. You can also opt to have it posted by special delivery for an additional postage fee.
