Funded youth work qualifications
We're offering fully funded youth work qualifications to strengthen and sustain Camden’s youth sector.
Funded through the Apprenticeship Levy, this investment will:
- support delivery of high-quality provision for Camden’s children and young people
- supporting the professional development of talented youth practitioners
This offer has been shaped through close partnership with Camden’s voluntary and community sector (VCS) youth organisations, Young Camden Foundation, and our Youth Service. This is so that learning responds directly to the needs, priorities and realities of Camden’s youth sector.
There are 2 qualification pathways available:
- Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship
- Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship BA (Honours) in Youth Work
Both pathways are open to anyone working with young people in Camden, if they meet the eligibility rules.
Course information
Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship
The Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship is designed for people working with young people aged 11 to 25. This could be in a range of settings, including:
- youth organisations
- schools
- community services
The course provides a strong foundation in youth work practice. It uses person-centred educational approaches that will help practitioners support young people’s social, emotional and personal development.
The programme combines practical, work-based learning with structured training.
Learners will develop the skills and confidence to plan, deliver and evaluate youth work activities. They'll nurture their professional practice to offer young people the highest quality support.
The apprenticeship is typically completed over 18 months. This will include an End-Point Assessment to demonstrate competence.
It leads to a Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice and a JNC-certified qualification. This qualification provides a clear progression route into more senior roles or further study.

To be eligible, you must be working a minimum of 25 contracted hours per week.

Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship BA (Honours) in Youth Work
The Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Youth Work is through the University of East London.
This apprenticeship combines work and academic study. It blends practical experience with critical engagement in theory, policy and practice.
The apprenticeship is completed over 3 years, full-time, with entry points in May, September and January. This will include an End-Point Assessment to demonstrate professional competence.
It also leads to a JNC-recognised professional qualification in youth and community work, while you're employed.
Who can apply
To be eligible, you must be working a minimum of 25 contracted hours per week. Your employer will need to release you for study every Monday.

How to apply
If you're interested in either apprenticeship, you should apply directly to the institution providing the training.
It’s important that you and your employer review the course enrolment criteria in detail to be certain you are eligible. If you’re not sure, contact the provider to check.
Both courses require you to be released by your employer within paid working hours for set hours of study. For example, for youth workers employed on full-time contracts, their employer will be expected to release them 1 day a week for study.
The salary costs associated with this are not funded through the Apprenticeship Levy.
