Does your  Freedom Pass expire 31 March 2021?

If your Freedom Pass expires 31st March 2021, we have made the renewal process easier for you. There is no need for you to contact us.

You do not need to contact us as we will check your continued eligibility for a pass. If you remain eligible for the scheme, your pass will be reissued and posted to you between February and March 2021.  If we need any information, we will contact you requesting the information we need to confirm your ongoing entitlement for your Freedom Pass.

Documents accepted include:

  • a current council tax bill 2020–21 or;
  • a Utility Bill - Gas, Electric, Water, Telephone (not mobile phone bill) which must be dated within the last 3 months.

The Older Persons Freedom Pass

An Older Persons Freedom Pass lets you travel for free on London's public transport. You can use it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For National Rail services within Greater London, you can use it:

  • after 9.30am on weekdays
  • all day on weekends and public holidays

Before you apply you need to check if you're eligible.

If you're not eligible and over 60, the 60+ London Oyster photocard allows free travel on public transport in London until you qualify for a Freedom Pass.

You can apply up to 14 days before you become eligible.

Proof of residence

You must provide proof that your sole and permanent address is in Camden. The document you send must show your name and current address and be dated within the last three months.

One of the following documents can be provided as proof of residence:

  • A current council tax bill
  • A utility bill, for example gas electricity, water, telephone or broadband (not a mobile phone bill)
  • A current television licence letter or bill

Please note that bank statements are not accepted as proof of residence.

One of the following documents can be provided as proof of age:

  • A current UK passport
  • A birth certificate
  • A current UK driving licence
  • An NHS medical card

Your pass will be sent to you within 7 to 10 days.

Passes from another London council

You will need to call us on 020 7974 5919 and provide:

  • the date you moved into Camden
  • your previous address
  • two original proofs of your new address

If you pay council tax, you only need to provide one proof of address.
