Examination overview

The Camden Local Plan Proposed Submission Draft was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination on Friday 3 October 2025.

The submission documents are available to view on the examination pages of our website.

The Secretary of State has appointed Inspector K Ford to hold an independent examination of the Local Plan.

The Inspector's task is to consider the soundness of the submitted Plan (in accordance with the tests set out in the National Planning Framework) and whether it has been prepared in accordance with the legal and procedural requirements.

Following public hearings held in May and June 2026, the Inspector has identified a series of 'Main Modifications' required to ensure the Plan is 'sound'.

The Council has published the Main Modifications for consultation.

Minor Modifications to the Plan, which do not materially affect the Plan's policies; a Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessment of the Main Modifications; and an updated Local Plan Policies Map are also available for comment.

To find out more and comment on the above documents please visit the Main Modifications Consultation page of the Council's website.

The consultation closes on Monday 23 November 2026.
