Draft Canalside to Camley Street Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

The Camley Street and St. Pancras Way area is going through a number of changes.  Several development proposals are likely to come forward in the near future.

We have therefore been preparing a draft planning guidance document. This outlines what we see as some of the key issues and opportunities for the area that should be addressed.

It builds upon existing policies and priorities in the adopted Local Plan. It sets out some key planning aims and design principles to help shape future development proposals in the area. This is so plans are acceptable and can deliver positive benefits and improvements. Our aim is to make the area even better for the local community.

Public consultation on the draft Canalside to Camley Street Supplementary Planning Document took place 16 July-25 September 2020. It is now closed.

It is intended to enhance other plans that are at different stages in their preparation. These have their own consultation and adoption methods. You can find out more about these here:

What happens next?

Your responses to the consultation will help us update and revise a final version of the draft Canalside to Camley Street document. The Council expects to adopt this as a Supplementary Planning Document in early 2021.

The Council has also considered whether the draft SPD needs statutory Strategic Environmental Assessment and Habitats Regulations Assessment. It has prepared this screening report:

A draft version of the document was approved for consultation in June 2019. We were planning to start consultation on an updated version in March 2020.  However this was postponed due to the impacts of the Covid-19 coronavirus.
