What is CAM?
Camden Active Mark (CAM) is the borough’s sport development framework to support, strengthen and recognise sport and physical activity providers operating within the borough.
Camden Active Mark is a progressive framework designed to support community organisations provide quality sport and physical activity. This comprises a set of criteria against the following themes:
- Governance - ensuring that organisations are being run effectively
- Delivery - ensuring that activities are well organised, safe and high quality
- Safeguarding - ensuring that people involved in activities are safeguarded and protected
- Vision and Commitment - promoting a forward-thinking approach, engagement with wider audiences and open to development
Who is CAM for?
Camden Active Mark is for organisations providing sport and physical activity opportunities in the London Borough of Camden. Organisations will need to be committed to improving their activity, have a desire to grow, develop their offer and engage with potential new members and residents. Eligible organisations include:
- Sports Clubs
- Community Organisations
- Youth Clubs
- Broader not-for-profit organisations with a remit of sport and physical activity
How to achieve CAM
You can read the Camden Active Mark Guide which provides an insight into the programme and the criteria required to achieve Camden Active Mark status. Once you have read the guide, you can complete an online expression of interest form.
A member of the Community Sport and Physical Activity Team will then be in touch to arrange an introductory call which will provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions and ensure the framework is suitable for you and your organisation.
The benefits of achieving CAM
The benefits your organisation receives will depend on which tier of Camden Active Mark you have completed. The two tiers are Development and Accredited.
Benefits of achieving CAM include:
- support in identifying and applying for grant funding
- access to appropriate training and resources
- opportunities to be included in Camden Council’s marketing and promotion
- part of an exclusive newsletter mailing list to receive information on funding, programs and initiatives
- opportunity to review current policies and processes to make potential improvements
- formal recognition of your club and its activities through an official letter from Camden Council’s Leisure Service
- be part of a collective effort to ensure sport and physical activities are safe and appropriate for residents of all ages and backgrounds
- officer support and guidance to achieve each level
