London has experienced an exceptionally hot and dry spring and summer in 2026. This has significantly increased the risks associated with allowing barbecues in parks and open spaces.
Barbecues are temporarily banned
You must not use a barbecue in Camden-managed parks or green spaces at the moment.
Hot and dry weather has increased the risk of fires. A small flame or spark can quickly set fire to dry grass and vegetation.
The ban applies to all barbecues, including reusable charcoal barbecues.
We will keep the ban under review and update this page when it is safe to use barbecues again.
Disposable barbecues removed from sale
The government has also temporarily stopped disposable barbecues from being sold in shops and online in Great Britain because of the increased wildfire risk.
You can read the government guidance on disposable barbecues.
Waterlow Park
Barbecues will not be allowed in Waterlow Park during 2026.
