Councillor Tricia Leman

Tricia Leman is a councillor for Camden Square Ward and is the new Mayor of Camden for 2026-2027.

Before being elected as the Mayor of Camden, Tricia held several roles within the Council including Deputy Mayor and served as a member of the Council Scrutiny Committees for Children, Schools and Families; and Health and Social Care. She was also a member of the Council’s Licensing Committee, where she has supported the “Ask for Angela” campaign. 

Tricia is a strong advocate for women and girls who are experiencing abuse or violence. As a member of the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Board, she has been very active in developing and supporting Camden’s first Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy and was Council Champion for Combatting VAWG. 

Tricia has worked tirelessly to ensure that survivors’ voices are heard at all stages, including supporting a survivors’ group, Camden Voices Against Abuse (CVAA). 

One of her main priorities is community safety for women and for all Camden residents. She has helped highlight the importance of this in her work with the Safer Neighbourhood Teams and in the development of Camden’s policies for licensing in the night time economy.

Tricia grew up in South Wales in a single parent family and experienced the impact of domestic abuse on family life. Her school was an important source of support and encouragement, and she became the first in her family to go to a university. She is a lifelong feminist and has served as a member of the Trade Union Congress National Women’s Committee campaigning to defend women’s rights in employment and to close the gender pay gap. 

Tricia has lived in Camden for over 36 years and raised her family here. She has a wide knowledge of the borough and has been an active member of local community and neighbourhood groups, helping to organise community events as well as chairing the local branch of her political party. 

She has extensive experience teaching in further and higher education and has developed and led programmes that support young people to stay engaged with education and training to improve their employment prospects.  

She is a Fellow of the CIPD (The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) and has advised Local Authorities and national charities on organisational challenges including the use of mediation in conflict resolution.
