Charlie Ratchford Court is a brand new extra care scheme in Chalk Farm. ‘Extra care' is where people with social care needs are supported to live independently in their own flat.
The scheme is now open, with the first set of residents moving in over the next few months.
Charlie Ratchford Court was built and paid for through our Community Investment Programme (CIP). It’s our 15 year plan for building council homes, schools and community facilities for Camden residents.
Extra Care at Charlie Ratchford Court
Staff at the scheme will support the people who live there in a different way to traditional care settings. They will work with people to co-produce their support, focusing on their strengths and what matters to them, rather than the things that they can’t do. Support will be flexible, high-quality and will help people live as independently as possible.
As well as 38 flats (32 one-bed and six two-bed, all with outdoor space), there are a range of accessible and adaptable facilities and both indoor and outdoor communal space, as well as a shared lounge, a health and wellbeing suite and even a guest suite for when family and friends visit. People living at Charlie Ratchford Court will be offered a daily freshly-cooked meal.
When social distancing restrictions lift, a café-style space, courtyard gardens and flexible space can be enjoyed by residents and the community. A programme of activities will be developed with the people who live in the scheme.
