What to expect during construction

Construction work is scheduled to begin on the 5th March 2018 and we are working hard to minimise any potential disruption to neighbouring residents, visitors, businesses, buses and cyclists.

All residents and businesses adjacent to the area should have received a letter advising them of the upcoming works and changes – do email us if you haven’t received this via

Signage has gone up for traffic around the site and our contractors Eurovia will have an onsite presence, details on this will be shared shortly.
During the initial works only minor disruptions are expected including:

  • Temporary traffic lights as signals are removed
  • Short term closures to side roads off Tottenham Court Road
  • Single lane closures and bus stop and bus lane suspensions on Tottenham Court Road and Gower Street
  • Temporarily narrower pavement space available on New Oxford Street as the new paving is laid
  • Short term lane closures and pavement closures will be needed across the area to facilitate the digging of test holes
  • Temporary parking and loading bay suspensions

The contractor’s main working hours will be between 08:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday and 09:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays. During the project some work may take place outside of these core hours or on Sundays, but these will be kept to a minimum. Additionally, some small scale preparation work will take place in the area prior to the 5th March.
