Street lighting and street furniture

Street lights

We are responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of street lights as well as lighting faults, including illuminated bollards, signs and beacons throughout the borough.

There is a proactive lamp replacement programme and we will respond to reports of lighting problems. Problems may vary from faulty lights, missing metal door at the base of the lamp column, damaged or leaning lamp columns etc.

How can I report a problem with a street light?

You can report a faulty street light online or you can contact street lighting and drainage team

The more information you can give us the better e.g. for faulty lights, is the light out altogether, going on/off, burning all day, intermittent? If possible, please include the number of the column. If you cannot see this then please state the exact location or adjacent house number.

Usually, outages are repaired within five working days. If there is a problem on the electricity cable feeding the column, notification is sent to the electricity company responsible.

If you want to report a faulty street light out of hours you can call our emergency hotline on 020 7974 4444.

Street furniture

Street furniture includes benches, bollards, post boxes, bus stops, lamp columns, cycle racks and anything else that sits on the public highway.

While some of this is the responsibility of other organisations (e.g. post boxes), we are responsible for the provision and maintenance of the rest.
