“I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the beginners cycling class this weekend - both instructors were great. I'd like to book onto the next class to improve upon what I've learnt.”

“I had a wonderful experience this weekend. Both instructors were patient and supportive. They were both ready with positive words to motivate and encouraged us all to step out of our comfort zones. Thank you very much.”

Urban Cycle Skills

These individual sessions equip trainees with road traffic skills, from cycling on quiet roads to complex junctions and busy roundabouts. Because this training is delivered one-to-one, or in small groups, it will be tailored to each trainee’s individual needs. This could, for instance, include your route to work or college.

Each training sessions is between 90 and 120 minutes in duration, beginning on quiet roads and moving on to busier, more complex roads.

To participate in training at this level, you must have good bike control skills, such as cycling one-handed for 5 seconds and stopping quickly in an emergency. You can see a Camden Urban Cycle Skills session in progress on YouTube.

You should bring your own bike to the training, although the use of a borrowed or hired bike is also possible. You might also consider signing up to ‘Try-A-Bike’, Camden's free four-week bike loan scheme—visit www.camden.gov.uk/tryabike for more information.

Training sessions can be arranged individually. In this case, your instructor will get in touch with you to agree a session for a mutually convenient time and location.

Please state your preferred training dates, times and locations when registering. During peak periods, it may be necessary to book several weeks ahead for training appointments, particularly for weekends or weekday evenings.

“The session was extremely productive and informative. The instructor was very clear and made sure I was safe and performing correctly throughout the session. I've gained the knowledge that I needed in my road positioning and signalling. I will definitely be recommending this as my boss at work did to me.”
