Family and Friends Care in Camden

What is family and friends care?

Family and friends care is an arrangement where a child who cannot be cared for by their parents is placed with a relative or a family friend. Depending on the circumstances of how the child is placed with you, you may need to undertake an assessment with a social worker about your suitability to care for the child, either in the short-term or long-term.

The benefits of family and friends care

Social workers encourage family and friends care, because they believe this arrangement is better for some children than being looked after by a foster carer. This is because it is easier for them to keep in touch with their parents, friends and other family members, and because it helps them to maintain their religion, language and culture.
