We want any development of Euston station to achieve the vision of the Euston Area Plan, the plan for the area agreed by Camden Council, Mayor of London and Transport for London. Central to this is having more affordable homes and local jobs at Euston.

Euston station needs to be comprehensively redeveloped so that it integrates plan for HS2, Network Rail, Crossrail 2 and Underground stations. This would create a new piece of city with a world-class station that maximises opportunities for at least 2,000 homes, around 15,000 jobs, open space, cultural facilities and routes through and around the station.

However, the Government has not given full guarantees on timescales or funding for the comprehensive redevelopment of the station.

We continue to push for an integrated station through our membership of strategic boards and raising the issue at the highest levels of government.

Euston Station Area Planning Brief

The Council is developing a Planning Brief to provide guidance for development above and around Euston station and tracks, building on the vision set out in the Euston Area Plan.

The Planning Brief will provide more detailed guidance for the delivery of homes, jobs, open space and other facilities. The Planning Brief will be developed during 2017 and 2018 alongside work by HS2 Ltd to progress their station design, work by Network Rail to consider the redevelopment of the existing Euston station, and evolving Crossrail 2 plans for the Euston area.

In summer 2017, we consulted on principles for the Planning Brief. This will help shape a draft Planning Brief, which we will publish for consultation in 2018.
