About Euston

We want any development of Euston station to achieve the vision of the Euston Area Plan, the plan for the area agreed by Camden Council, Mayor of London and Transport for London. Central to this is having more affordable homes and local jobs at Euston.

We think a comprehensive approach to the redevelopment of Euston station, integrating plans for HS2, Network Rail, Crossrail 2 and the Underground, needs to be taken forward in order to provide at least 2,000 much-needed homes, replacement open space and around 15,000 jobs.

However, the latest plans for the HS2 terminus at Euston will be built on a phased basis, with the HS2 tracks and station expected to be completed by 2033. The Government has not given guarantees on timescales or funding for a full development of the station in the future.

Euston Station Area Planning Brief

The Council is developing a Planning Brief to provide guidance for development above and around Euston station and tracks, building on the vision set out in the Euston Area Plan.

The Planning Brief will provide more detailed guidance for the delivery of homes, jobs, open space and other facilities. The Planning Brief will be developed during 2017 and 2018 alongside work by HS2 Ltd to progress their station design, work by Network Rail to consider the redevelopment of the existing Euston station, and evolving Crossrail 2 plans for the Euston area.

In summer 2017, we consulted on principles for the Planning Brief. This will help shape a draft Planning Brief, which we will publish for consultation in spring 2018.
