Integrated youth support service

Supporting young people to make positive choices

We want to support young people to make positive choices and to avoid involvement in bullying, anti-social behaviour (ASB) and crime.
We want young people to stay safe, have opportunities to develop a healthier lifestyle and reach their maximum potential in school, college and the workplace.
As part of delivering these aims, in 2007 we developed our Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS). This multi-agency service is split into four main functions:

  • Youth Service – providing positive activities in all of our youth clubs across the Borough
  • Connexions – helping young people move from secondary school into further education, training or employment
  • Youth Offending Service – helping young people to avoid entering the criminal justice system, and to reduce the likelihood of reoffending once they have entered the criminal justice system.

The following pages have been developed to provide young people, parents and professionals with more detailed guidance on the work of IYSS and on how to stay safe and free from trouble:

Youth Justice and the Youth Offending Service – provides advice and guidance on what happens if a young person gets into trouble with the Police and the work of the Youth Offending Service.
