Gospel Oak By-election Thursday 9 November 2017

Following the resignation of Councillor Theo Blackwell there will be a By-election in the Gospel Oak ward. The election will take place on Thursday 9 November 2017, the hours of polling will be 7am to 10pm.

Those who can vote are all UK, EU and Commonwealth citizens who will be on the electoral register for the ward as at Wednesday 2 November 2017. The deadline for new registrations is midnight on Tuesday 24th October 2017.

2. Candidates

Nominations of candidates commenced on Friday 6 October and closed at 4pm on Friday 13th October 2017. There are four validly nominated candidates.

3. Polling Stations

These will be

- IA   Gospel Oak Methodist Church

- IB    Kiln Hall, Kiln Place

- IC   Queens Crescent Community Centre

4. Poll Cards

Poll cards will be sent out through Royal Mail on Monday 9 October to all eligible electors.

5.  Registering to vote

If you are not already registered to vote, the last date to register to vote for this By-election is by midnight on Tuesday 24th October 2017. Anyone wishing to register should go to the online registration portal www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

6. Postal Votes

Postal votes will be sent out on Thursday 26th October 2017 by 1st Class mail. The last date to apply for, cancel or change a postal vote for the election is Wednesday 25th October 2017 by 5pm.

Postal vote application forms are available from the elections and voting web page following the link to registering to vote, or available by contacting Electoral services on 020 974 6000.

7. Proxy votes

The deadline for new proxy vote applications is Wednesday 1 November 2017 at 5pm.

Late applications for emergency proxy on medical grounds or employment can be submitted up to 5pm on polling day.

8. The Count

The count will take place at Camden Town Hall, Judd Street, on Thursday 9 November after the close of poll.  The results will be shown on the website later that night.

9. Results

Following the count, results of the by-election will appear on the Gospel Oak by-election results page.
