Information on scrutiny committees

'Call in' arrangements

Every Council has to establish a mechanism which allows Executive decisions made but not yet implemented to be ‘called in’ for consideration by scrutiny.

Camden’s call in procedure in essence allows any four members to ask for an executive decision to be called in. Executive decisions are not implemented for 7 working days after they are taken in order to allow a period for call in.

Provided the call in is deemed to be valid by the Borough Solicitor, it can be considered. The Borough Solicitor has the power to decide which is the appropriate Scrutiny Committee to consider a specific call in.

The call-in process is described in more detail in our constitution.
