Article 4 Direction, light industrial to residential (B1c to C3)
The Council is making an Article 4 Direction to remove permitted development rights for the change of use from light industrial (B1c) to dwellinghouses (C3) for a number of locations. This will reinstate the need for an express grant of planning permission and an assessment against the Council’s planning policies for changes of use from light industrial to residential use at these locations. (This is in addition to a previous Direction to remove this right in a number of other areas, which was introduced in 2017).
The non-immediate Article 4 Direction removes the permitted development right to change from:
• Use Class B1c (light industrial) to Use Class C3 (dwellinghouses).
The Article 4 Direction was made on 18 September 2019. If confirmed the Direction will come into force on 1 October 2020.
