Job details:

  • Starting salary: £13,000 per year
  • Contract length: 12-18 months
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday

About the role

To provide excellent customer service by resolving customers’ technical queries submitted by telephone or email; to provide backup for Field Engineers at customer site if required

Apprentice tasks will include:

  • Assess IT issues raised by customers to ensure full understanding of the problem
  • Diagnose the cause of the problem in order to identify the most appropriate fix
  • Log client problem issues accurately and fully in service desk system
  • Keep accurate records of time worked on issues in Company’s time recording system
  • Build new hardware and install appropriate software to meet the customers’ requirements
  • Interact professionally with customers and colleagues at all times, ensuring that the customer is fully satisfied with the service provided

UCL Academy School Engineering Technician

The UCL Academy is recruiting a School Engineering Technician

The UCL Academy is offering an exciting opportunity to a Camden/Islington resident or former Camden Secondary School student or Camden care leaver to become a School Engineering Technician Apprentice. Whilst working at UCL, you will also study towards and complete an Engineering Technician (Level 2) qualification.

Job Details:

  • Duration: 15-18 month contract
  • Salary: £296 per week, increasing to £314 per week after six months and £331 per week after 12 months
  • Hours: 08:30 and 16:30 Mondays to Fridays, 37 hours per week, 20% of time per week will be allocated to study. The other 80% will be completing the duties below.
  • Qualification: Level 2 Engineering Technician

The apprentice would undertake an apprenticeship as an engineering technician and learn the necessary skills to gain a recognized qualification.
The technician would provide technical engineering support to the Academy’s Engineering department to ensure productive learning sessions across all year groups.

Duties will include:

  • operating both manual and CAD/CAM machinery and to support teachers and students in their use
  • support with machine maintenance and upkeep and assist with risk assessments on all machines
  • to assist in compiling inventories of machines, tools, equipment and materials as required;
  • undertake training in the use of CAD/CAM and once familiarised, support teachers and students in using the department’s CAD / CAM equipment;
  • assist teaching staff upon request in the setting up of practical sessions and demonstrations, supporting the department with lesson preparation, resources and materials
