Camden Council’s registration service is offering an exciting opportunity to 16+ Camden resident, Camden care leaver or former Camden secondary school student (who is eligible to work in the UK) to become a Registration Service Apprentice.

Job Details

  • Contract length: 18 month contract with Camden Council
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Salary: £10.75per Hour-£20,124pa

Camden’s registration service is responsible for:

  • Perform administrative processes associated with registration work; indexing historical records related to birth/death/marriages and civil partnerships, logging incoming post, producing printed and handwritten duplicate certificates, printing declarations of births & entering inquests.
  • Responding to customer emails and answering telephone enquiries
  • Perform administrative processes associated with Citizenship ceremonies such as data input, and pre and post ceremony administration for citizenship ceremonies
  •  Undertaking Administrative tasks on behalf of the Home Office for potential British Citizens.
  • The apprenticeship will provide project administrative and customer service support to the Registrars team. The apprenticeship will be for a fixed term period of 18 months. During this time you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience working for Camden Council whilst pursuing a Business Administration Apprenticeship qualification at Level 3.

  • Committed to completing the apprenticeship qualification
  • Sensitive and able to respond appropriately to people who may display different emotions, e.g. distress or excitement.
  • Able to remain confident, clear and firm, sticking to rules where necessary.
  • Able to show excellent attention to detail
  • A high level of written communication, team working and customer service skills
  • Punctual, organised, flexible and good time management skills.

Criteria

  • 16+ years old, Camden resident or Camden care leaver, former Camden Secondary school student
  • A real desire to work and learn and complete the apprenticeship qualification
  • You must NOT already have an NVQ 3 in Business Administration or Customer Service
  • Not be an overseas national subject to employment or learning restrictions and/or a time or a limit on my stay (other than a refugee or asylum seeker)
  • Be ordinarily resident in the England, EU or EAA for at least the previous three years before the start of the programme
  • Not be attending any other school, Further Education or Higher Education institution

Reality Check

  • Some clients may display distress, e.g. if coming to register a stillbirth or death. You must be able to deal appropriately and empathetically with situations like this.
  • You must be able to stick to the law and have the confidence to explain this to customers diplomatically, even in cases where they object.

  • Assess IT issues raised by customers to ensure full understanding of the problem
  • Diagnose the cause of the problem in order to identify the most appropriate fix
  • Log client problem issues accurately and fully in service desk system
  • Keep accurate records of time worked on issues in Company’s time recording system
  • Build new hardware and install appropriate software to meet the customers’ requirements
  • Interact professionally with customers and colleagues at all times, ensuring that the customer is fully satisfied with the service provided

Description 

As a Design Management Apprentice, you will work within the Design Management team to learn all aspects of Project Management within the context of architectural design.  In conjunction with your day to day role you will be required to demonstrate full commitment to obtaining the Associate Project Management Level 4 Apprenticeship qualification.
