Camden Apprenticeships is an award winning service that has created almost 900 apprenticeship vacancies since it was set up in 2010.

Who is our service for?

Our service is for people aged 16+ who are Camden residents, former Camden secondary school students or Camden care leavers.

What support do we provide?

We provide exclusive access to a range of apprenticeship opportunities both in the Council and with local employers.
 
Applicants take part in an assessment process to identify whether a role is right for them. Support is offered throughout all stages of the assessment process to give applicants the best chance of success, including CV guidance and feedback on interview technique.
 
The assessment process is used to decide when is the right time to progress applicants to final interview stage for a role that interests them.
 
Those who successfully access an apprenticeship can continue to contact the team at any point in their contract for information, advice or assistance.

What kind of apprenticeships do we have?

  • We create apprenticeships both within Camden council and on behalf of local employers in a range of sectors.
  • The types of apprenticeship on offer depend on employer demand. Business administration apprenticeships are the most common, but we create other apprenticeships as well. Apprenticeships are available throughout the year, in accordance with the needs of our employers.
  • We offer different levels of apprenticeship, depending on the complexity of the role, but these normally range from level 2 up to level 4. 

Entry requirements

  • You must be a Camden resident, former Camden secondary school student or Camden care leaver aged 16 or over to be eligible for our service. There is no upper age limit and graduates are also eligible.
  • You must hold a British or European passport or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
  • You do NOT need any previous qualifications but would need to meet the minimum English and maths levels for apprenticeships. We can assess candidates that have no formal qualifications or certificates to check you meet these minimum requirements.

IT Technician - Camden Council

The team and the role

Camden Council’s Digital and Data Services Service Desk is the first point of contact for resolving issues, providing support, dealing with incidents and ensuring users are satisfied with their IT.
You'll play a key role in ensuring issues are dealt with as quickly as possible and ensuring users receive a first class experience from the Service Desk.  
This is a fixed term role but there may be an option of a permanent role subject to progress at the end of the Apprenticeship.
We are also committed to developing talent so upon completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to develop further through a Level 4 Apprenticeship.

Skills required include:

  • Grade A*-D in maths and English GCSE (or equivalent). Applicants without certificates can be assessed at pre-screening stage.
  • An understanding of the role of Infrastructure and a Service Desk to support an organisation   
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to use MS Office systems and software packages
  • Able to work as a team

About the team:

The Digital and Data Services Team use a wide range of technologies to deliver and enable enhanced, efficient and innovative services for the Council and the residents we serve. We also play a key role in supporting our staff, enabling flexible, agile working, saving time and money while delivering better services across Camden.
The Technology function within Digital and Data Services plays a crucial role in supporting the Council’s critical infrastructure. This is crucial to ensuring that day to day service, in particular sufficient coverage of voice and the data network runs seamlessly and effectively to ensure the smooth running of Camden’s day to day services.

About the role:

You will assist with the provision of prompt and effective technical support for the voice and data network service to users across the Council through resolution of incidents and service requests in line with agreed service agreements, ensuring minimal disruption/ loss of service.

Tasks include:

  • Learning to record, investigate and resolve network support issues
  • Collecting routine network load statistics and creating reports
  • Assisting in analysing site survey reports and associated follow up work
  • Carrying out routine configuration / installation and maintenance routines
  • Assisting with the installation, removal, upgrading and repair of equipment.

Early Years Apprentice - PACE

PACE is recruiting an Early Years Apprentice. We have an exciting opportunity for you to train, earn and learn. PACE (Play, Adventure and Community Enrichment) is offering an opportunity to a 16 + Camden resident, Camden care leaver or former Camden Secondary School student (who is eligible to work in the UK) to become an Early Years Apprentice

The details:

  • Salary: £9- £10 per hour (Depending on Qualifications and Experience, including 13 weeks paid holiday!)

What is the role of the Inclusive Economy Team?

The Inclusive Economy team has a mission to ensure local people share in the growth and prosperity of Camden’s economy.
Over the next three years, the Council will be investing £5 million in transforming employment support in Camden. The team will focus on creating good work in partnership with our business community, as well as the development of job hubs where residents can go for support in overcoming the obstacles to accessing employment.
They will also be working with schools and employers like Google and Ted Baker to shape a 21st century curriculum that prepares students for the world of work.

About the role

The apprentice will provide essential administrative and project support to the team to allow them to carry out their work as efficiently as possible.

Tasks will include:

  • Learning about all aspects of administrative support within the team including data entry, making payments, filing, photocopying and monitoring of supplies.
  • Responding to basic requests for information.
  • Passing on messages from internal and external customers via email, phone or face to face.
  • Learning how to book, organise and take minutes at meetings.
  • Assisting with events and outreach activities.
  • Learning how to update the website and intranet.
