About the role

To provide excellent customer service by resolving customers’ technical queries submitted by telephone or email; to provide backup for Field Engineers at customer site if required

Apprentice tasks will include:

  • Assess IT issues raised by customers to ensure full understanding of the problem
  • Diagnose the cause of the problem in order to identify the most appropriate fix
  • Log client problem issues accurately and fully in service desk system
  • Keep accurate records of time worked on issues in Company’s time recording system
  • Build new hardware and install appropriate software to meet the customers’ requirements
  • Interact professionally with customers and colleagues at all times, ensuring that the customer is fully satisfied with the service provided

About the team

The Digital and Data Services Team use a wide range of technologies to deliver and enable enhanced, efficient and innovative services for the Council and the residents we serve. We also play a key role in supporting our staff, enabling flexible, agile working, saving time and money while delivering better services across Camden.

The Technology function within Digital and Data Services plays a crucial role in supporting the Council’s critical infrastructure. This is crucial to ensuring that day to day service, in particular sufficient coverage of voice and the data network runs seamlessly and effectively to ensure the smooth running of Camden’s day to day services.

About the role

You will assist with the provision of prompt and effective technical support for the voice and data network service to users across the Council through resolution of incidents and service requests in line with agreed service agreements, ensuring minimal disruption/ loss of service.

Tasks include:

  • Learning to record, investigate and resolve network support issues
  • Collecting routine network load statistics and creating reports
  • Assisting in analysing site survey reports and associated follow up work
  • Carrying out routine configuration / installation and maintenance routines
  • Assisting with the installation, removal, upgrading and repair of equipment.
  • Assisting in maintaining the configuration management system (documenting hardware/software items that have been installed, changed or removed)

About the team

The Borough Monitoring Team of the Council’s Environment Service is responsible for the client-side monitoring of the current waste collection and street cleansing contract, undertaking a blend of problem-solving, education and enforcement activities.

About the role

The apprentice will learn how to monitor performance of waste management services contracted by Camden Council and identify how improvements can be made. The role will involve engaging with the contractor’s staff, Councillors, community groups, residents, businesses and visitors to gather and act on feedback.
The role is around 50% office-based and 50% outdoor ‘field’ work, patrolling areas of the borough to monitor services and improve local environmental quality. Investigation and enforcement work will require the apprentice to assist in investigating dumped waste.

Tasks will include learning how to:

  • monitor day to day delivery of external contractors’ performance of waste management services.
  • investigate and resolve complaints, improve community engagement and provide advice and guidance in relation to environmental services including recycling, waste, cleansing and enforcement.
  • use a range of IT packages and performance data to identify and effectively resolve problems related to service standards and environmental quality.
  • Participate in meetings and ‘walkabouts’ to engage and seek the support of residents, businesses and special interest groups within a designated area.
