Camden Apprenticeships is an award winning service that has created almost 900 apprenticeship vacancies since it was set up in 2010.

Who is our service for?

Our service is for people aged 16+ who are Camden residents, former Camden secondary school students or Camden care leavers.

What support do we provide?

We provide exclusive access to a range of apprenticeship opportunities both in the Council and with local employers.
 
Applicants take part in an assessment process to identify whether a role is right for them. Support is offered throughout all stages of the assessment process to give applicants the best chance of success, including CV guidance and feedback on interview technique.
 
The assessment process is used to decide when is the right time to progress applicants to final interview stage for a role that interests them.
 
Those who successfully access an apprenticeship can continue to contact the team at any point in their contract for information, advice or assistance.

What kind of apprenticeships do we have?

  • We create apprenticeships both within Camden council and on behalf of local employers in a range of sectors.
  • The types of apprenticeship on offer depend on employer demand. Business administration apprenticeships are the most common, but we create other apprenticeships as well. Apprenticeships are available throughout the year, in accordance with the needs of our employers.
  • We offer different levels of apprenticeship, depending on the complexity of the role, but these normally range from level 2 up to level 4. 

Entry requirements

  • You must be a Camden resident, former Camden secondary school student or Camden care leaver aged 16 or over to be eligible for our service. There is no upper age limit and graduates are also eligible.
  • You must hold a British or European passport or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
  • You do NOT need any previous qualifications but would need to meet the minimum English and maths levels for apprenticeships. We can assess candidates that have no formal qualifications or certificates to check you meet these minimum requirements.

WMC (Working Men’s College) - Learner Services Assistants X2

WM College is recruiting two Camden residents, former Camden secondary school students or Camden care leavers to become Learner Services Apprentices. WM College, historically known as Working Men’s College, is the oldest surviving adult education institute in Europe. Founded in 1854 the College was associated with the Cooperative Movement and the Christian Socialists which stem from the same tradition that later led to the Worker’s Educational Association.

WM College has been based in a landmark listed building in Camden Town since 1905. They have continued to develop the tradition of liberal education and today the College serves the whole community. They are representative of the London population and the local area is made up of Adults seeking work who need to achieve formal qualifications, those who wish to learn for personal enjoyment and wellbeing and those who have retired from full time work but who wish to remain active and involved in the local community.

WM College was designated as a Specialist Designated Institution (SDI) under the 1992 Further Education Act and became one of the nine national Institutes of Adult Learning in 2017.

Job Details:

  • Salary: £20,008 per annum
  • Apprenticeship: Business Administration  level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Hours: Full time 35 hours per week (including study) will also include evening and Saturday work on a rota basis.
  • Contract length: 18 months

What is the role of the Learner Services team?

Learners Services are the first point of contact for all learners, prospective learners and visitors to the college.
About the role
The Apprenticeship roles are designed to support this busy team and provide you with the skills and knowledge to work independently across the full range of the service. The requirements of the role are to provide a warm and professional welcome to all potential learners, visitors and staff via face to face contact, online, telephone and in writing.  The Apprentices will support the team in playing a vital role for the College in the recruitment of learners to our courses.  Supporting the team with pre course enquiries, processing enrolments, providing advice and guidance to prospective learners and seeking support from curriculum colleagues or other services within the college to manage more detailed enquiries.  Supporting the telephony service and other administrative tasks as required.

The ideal qualities required include:

  • Minimum Level 1 English & Maths (GCSE Grade D or above or Grade 3 or above)
  • Experience of working in an administration role, within a customer focused service.
  • Experience of working within an education based environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and with limited supervision.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent IT skills (e.g. MS Office)
  • The ability to ask for support in a busy environment and when faced with a challenging situation.
  • The ability to listen to enquirers carefully, extract relevant information and signpost as required.  
  • The ability to represent the College in a positive way at all times.

T-Tech- Service Desk Analyst

An exciting opportunity for you to train, earn and learn. T-Tech is offering the chance for a Camden resident, former Camden secondary school student or Camden care leaver to become an Apprentice Service Desk Analyst studying for NVQ Level 3 Infrastructure Technician qualification.

Job details:

  • Starting salary: £13,000 per year
  • Contract length: 12-18 months
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday
  • Qualification: Level 3 Infrastructure Technician
  • Based: Euston, moving to Angel from August 2019

  • Assess IT issues raised by customers to ensure full understanding of the problem
  • Diagnose the cause of the problem in order to identify the most appropriate fix
  • Log client problem issues accurately and fully in service desk system
  • Keep accurate records of time worked on issues in Company’s time recording system
  • Build new hardware and install appropriate software to meet the customers’ requirements
  • Interact professionally with customers and colleagues at all times, ensuring that the customer is fully satisfied with the service provided
