Safeguarding in recruitment
Because we have a duty to protect children and vulnerable adults from harm, we follow rigorous recruitment and selection procedures to ensure that we only appoint candidates who are suitable to work with vulnerable children and adults. To ensure that our recruitment procedures are safe, we are required to obtain a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check on candidates before they are cleared to work in certain posts.
The CRB is an executive agency of the Home Office, and information they hold enables us to check that candidates for some posts do not have a history that makes them unsuitable to work with vulnerable groups.
You will only be asked to apply for a Disclosure after a provisional offer of employment is made. It is most commonly applied to jobs working with children or vulnerable adults, or within a service area supporting these groups. Further information will be sent to you if a Disclosure is required.
