Summer special - free dance classes
Date: 06/07/07
Sexy salsa, fabulous flamenco and luscious line dancing - these are just three of the many dance classes Camden residents can try this summer.
And to give people that extra encouragement to have a go, Camden Council is offering the first class free (normally £1 or £2).
Cllr Flick Rea, Executive Member for culture, said:
“Dancing is a great way to shed a few pounds, tone muscles and make new friends. And with new classes in salsa, flamenco and line dancing, there’s even more choice available and an opportunity to try something new this summer.”
The summer dance programme starts on Monday 16 July and goes on until Friday 17 August. Classes are held at venues across the borough and are open to adults of all ages and all levels of fitness and ability.
The dance classes are part of Camden Council’s active health team programme, aimed at encouraging residents to live healthier and more active lives. Every week the team runs more than 50 exercise classes in everything from Tai Chi to dance, healthy walks to sport. Many classes are tailored for different health needs such as chair-based exercise for people with reduced mobility and exercise for improving bone or heart strength.
All classes are run by highly qualified instructors who are able to teach health related exercise to people of all age and levels of fitness and ability. Most classes require a £1 or £2 voucher to attend. These vouchers, and the latest exercise timetables, are available from any Camden library.
