Camden Arts and Tourism runs a grants scheme to support individual artists and art organisations to help promote and bring small-scale high quality arts projects and accessible events to the borough?s local communities. You can apply for up to £1,000. This is a rolling programme, applications can be submitted 8 Feb-12 Dec 2008. It takes 8 weeks to consider applications. Arts and Tourism aims to improve access to the arts, encourage quality of creative product and increase the levels of engagement in arts activity by all Camden?s diverse communities. They particularly welcome activities that promote excellence in the arts and bring a range of people together to share skills and experiences.

Drop-in sessions for vulnerable people in the King's Cross area. This is a dry centre, people who have had a drink or taken illegal drugs on the day will not be admitted. There are open access sessions for all on Mon, 14.00-17.00 and Tue, 18.00-21.00. A benefits advisor is available on Mondays. For the rest of the week there are members only sessions for those who have opted to join for further support. Italian session Thu 17.30-20.30, black and ethnic minorities Wed 12.00-14.30 and Fri 12.00-15.30.

Support work for carers from all communities, with specialist workers for Asian and African and Caribbean carers. There are also workers based at the Royal Free, St Pancras and University College Hospitals, to support carers of people who are either in or coming out of hospital, and one at Swiss Cottage Community Centre. Services include: advice and information, advocacy, emotional support and counselling, carers' forums and support groups, social activities, free newsletter (4 times per year) and information pack. Some financial help is available towards the cost of sitters and transport so that carers can attend activities at the Centre.

The central office for a charity which provides a range of services for people with substance misuse problems. Please see website for full details. Services include: a 13-bed Crisis Centre alcohol detox facility for men and women; four residential schemes for men and women including a house and 4-bed mobility unit for disabled people; one other house for men and women with 6 bedspaces. Training and Outreach Team offers training, support and education on alcohol issues, and gives information on accessing services. Criminal Justice Unit (Tel: 020-8989 4635) provides alcohol advice and counselling within the Criminal Justice system. New Roots (Tel: 020-8983 9646) offers counselling to Black and Asian communities. Fulcrum project is a day drug programme (Tel:020-8518 8333).

Network of African, Asian, Caribbean, Filipino, Indigenous, Latin American and other women campaigning for recognition by payment for caring work done by women of colour from Camden to Haiti, from India to Palestine, from Uganda to Venezuela. This includes survival, anti-sexist, anti-racist and other justice work in families and communities, in cities, towns and villages. We help organise the Global Women's Strike, annual actions in many countries every 8 March, and local events throughout the year.
