Wildlife and nature conservation
We're here to conserve and enhance the natural environment, promote biodiversity and give communities opportunities to interact with and learn about nature.
Biodiversity
Biodiversity or biological diversity is a term used to describe 'the variety of life'; this includes the range of plants, animals and all the places where they're found. It is the diversity of life on the Earth, from genes to whole ecosystems.
You can find out more in the biodiversity action plan
Report your wildlife sightings
When you notice wildlife coming into your garden or street, it would be very helpful if you couldĀ report this on the GIGL website as this will give a more complete picture of activity across Camden.
Greenspace Information for Greater London (GiGL) is the capital's open space and biodiversity records centre - collecting information on London's wildlife, parks, nature reserves, gardens and other open spaces.
What's on?
We organise a range of nature conservation events throughout the year and regular Camden Wildlife Forum meetings
Education and the environment
We also carry out education work with schools and play centres.
