Living. Easy steps to a greener home.

Making greener choices in the way we live is key to fighting climate change. It's all about taking small steps, to make big differences.

Insulating your house reduces the amount of energy you use and can save you hundreds of pounds a year in fuel bills. You may even be eligible for a grant to assist with the cost of insulation.

Buying local, seasonal and unprocessed food is a great way to shrink the third of your carbon footprint attributed to the food you eat. Better still buying local, seasonal produce will keep your grocery bill down; and opting for fresh fruit and vegetables over processed foods will keep you healthy and trim.

Reducing food waste and composting any waste that you can't avoid will cut the amount of methane, a highly potent greenhouse gas, which goes into our air. As a bonus you'll have great compost for the garden or pot plants.

Reducing non-food waste is important too. What you can't reduce, ensure you recycle or reuse. If you have unwanted household items why not do a good deed and donate them for someone else to reuse
