Accessible transport
Welcome to our one-stop solution for older people or anyone with a disability who has a need to travel.
Older Persons’ Freedom Passes
From 1 January 2010, post offices will no longer have supplies of Freedom Passes to issue to clients on the day.
If you are a Camden resident and about to reach 60 years of age, you will need to follow this new procedure to obtain your Freedom Pass:
- contact the passenger and accessible transport team up to six weeks before your 60th birthday
- give your name, address and date of birth
- you will be added to Camden’s Freedom Pass database.
- you will be sent an application form which you will need to complete and return
- you will need to provide proof of:
- your permanent Camden address,
- your date of birth,
- and one passport size photo.
- guidance notes sent with the form will confirm what proofs are acceptable.
- return the form and proofs to us in the envelope provided
- we will send the relevant data to a bureau who will make up your pass and post it to you. If you want to collect your pass from the Town Hall cashiers, you must write “Cashiers Collection” on top of the form.
Disabled Persons’ Freedom Passes
We are updating all our Freedom Pass application forms and guidance notes. If you need help completing the form, please contact the passenger and accessible transport team
Discretionary Disabled Persons’ Freedom Passes
If you are applying for your Freedom Pass on the grounds of having a severe and long-term mental health disability, there is a new procedure. This is as follows:
- do not complete the mental health report form
- ignore Section D of the current application form
- if you are known to Camden’s Community Mental Health teams, the Camden Early Intervention Service, Focus, the Assertive Outreach Team or the Forensic Outreach team, you will need to provide a covering letter from one of these on their service headed paper to confirm you are known to them, complete and sign the application form and provide proof of your permanent Camden address
