Take a look at our current out of school learning projects
Out of school learning is a planned activity that takes place outside school curriculum time, either
- before school
- during lunch or break time
- after school
- at the weekend or
- during the school holidays.
Participation is voluntary and activities usually run at no charge to the pupil.
Our aims
The out of school learning and varied menu of activities strategy has set out a vision to meet the needs of Camden’s children and young people, in line with the priorities of the Children and Young People’s Plan; by increasing their engagement in quality learning based projects and initiatives that directly raise their educational attainment, enthusiasm, and motivation to learn beyond the classroom, to extend their skills, and widen their involvement in inspiring, collaborative and creative opportunities both in and out of school time.
We support all schools by providing enriched arts and cultural based cross curricular projects that support teaching and learning. We also provide resources, toolkits and INSETS for schools to further embed the work.
We provide children and young people access to a variety of new opportunities, to extend and enrich their wider learning experiences. Out of school learning forms an integral component of the learning cycle, with significant benefits to children, parents, schools and providers. Out of school hours learning takes place in a variety of different settings, in:
- schools
- community centres
- playcentres
- youth projects
- arts organisations
- public buildings.
