Ways of working

We recognise that our staff are our greatest asset, and our Camden Ways of Working values (WoWs) help us to continuously improve performance. We want our staff to 'live' our ways of working as they are at the heart of everything we do.

To help us deliver excellence and tackle inequality:

  • We focus on our customers
  • We work together
  • We take personal responsibility
  • We find better and cheaper ways

Our Camden Ways of Working were introduced in December 2004. They were designed in consultation with front line services and senior managers, and came out of a council-wide review of how well we work together and how we do business.

They really represent how we do things in our everyday work, how we treat our customers, and how we work together within Camden. Through the WoWs, we recognise the benefits of collaboration, sharing information, supporting each other and encouraging creativity so that we do things more efficiently.

Our Ways of Working are our core tool for people to help manage themselves and others, influence the changes we want, and to promote how we want to work in Camden.

The examples provided in the full version, describe how we want our staff and teams to work. The section headed "this doesn't mean..." describes the sorts of behaviours we don’t accept and which detract from our success.
