Transport for Adult Social Care
Transport for adult social care
The passenger accessible transport service is now responsible for all the passenger transport services which were once classed as “Social Services” transport. These services are now referred to as transport for adult social care (TASC).
The aim of TASC is to deliver an excellent passenger and accessible transport service that promotes access to independence, choice and mobility for older and disabled residents. Fully accessible mini-buses are used to provide transport to:
- day and resource centres
- luncheon clubs and community centres
- clubs and activities - access to “out of hours” services e.g. specialist disability groups
These are mainly statutory services that the council is required to provide by law. Access to transport is often arranged 'on behalf' of applicants by centre managers, schools and other statutory providers.
The council offers transport for non-statutory services, such as shopping and leisure trips, through its Plusbus Door-to-Door scheme
How to join the scheme
Once you have been allocated a place at a day centre or a resource centre, the centre manager will assess whether you require transport to get to the centre.
The centre will then pass on your details to the Passenger and Accessible Transport Services to arrange the transport based on your personal needs.
Centre staff can download an application form or request a form online
Please note that all applicants need to provide proof of permanent residence in London Borough of Camden.
Eligibility
The service is not dependent upon availability of transport; applicants must be `assessed’ as being eligible. Applicants must be mobility impaired and / or be unable to use public transport. In addition, they must have a permanent address in the London Borough of Camden. Proof of address is required.
In order to make the most suitable transport arrangements, the application process will involve an assessment of of access to your home and the parking facilities near your building.
Cost to user
Membership is free and there is no charge to use the service. There are no restrictions on the numbers of trips, however the transport provided is subject to availability and linked to assessed need.
Successful applicants will be issued with a membership card called a ‘Vector Card’ that needs to be swiped when when boarding and leaving the mini-bus for each journey.
This vector card enables the passenger and accessible transport service to monitor the service and make any necessary changes to improve service delivery. At present the on board monitoring devices are installed only on selected rounds, other rounds will be included at a later date.
Where can I travel?
Members can travel to specific centres within the London Borough of Camden. An interactive map is available via www.myjourney.org.uk
TASC Renewal
TASC membership does not have an expiry date.
If there are any changes in your personal circumstances, please notify the centre staff, who will submit a change of circumstances form to the passenger and accessible transport service on your behalf.
