Camden appoints new director for housing & adult social care
Date:
Camden Council has appointed Jim Wintour into the role of director for housing and adult social care.
Jim will be joining Camden from the London Borough of Greenwich where he is currently the director of neighbourhood services, responsible for housing and environmental services. An aspect of his role involves overseeing Greenwich’s 25,000 council homes and 3,500 leaseholder properties.
Jim will lead the directorate responsible for providing safe, good quality housing and supporting the most vulnerable members of society. The directorate aims to help people in their daily lives and create strong, safe communities.
Of his new appointment Jim Wintour said:
"I am very excited to take on this challenging role at Camden. I am looking forward to working with residents, councillors and staff to deliver improved housing, high quality adult social care and safer streets."
Cllr Keith Moffitt, Leader of Camden Council, said:
"We are thrilled to have Jim on board to oversee this very busy directorate. We need people like Jim with a proven track record of achievement and a drive to make a positive difference to the services a large borough like Camden delivers."
Moira Gibb, Chief Executive, Camden Council, said:
"We are pleased to welcome Jim to Camden Council. This is a very important and challenging role within the Council and Jim brings a wealth of experience and a balance of skills and knowledge to help us drive improvements for our residents."
Cllr Chris Naylor, Executive Member for Homes & Housing Strategy, said:
"I am delighted that Jim Wintour will be joining us and very much look forward to working with him. Jim brings directly relevant experience from local authority jobs in Greenwich and Waltham Forest, from direct involvement on the frontline with tenants in Glasgow, and from campaigning with Shelter.
"We are committed to improving the lives of our tenants and leaseholders by getting our 33,000 council homes to the decent homes standard – Jim’s input will be invaluable in this.
