Somers Town

What's happening in Somers Town?

In Somers Town, where we own a large proportion of land, we have been developing plans to meet priorities identified by local residents.  By managing our assets better we will see considerable re-investment into schools, community facilities, new affordable homes, open space and public realm for the benefit of local people and families. Investing in our Somers Town communities is increasingly important with the potential impact of Crossrail 2 and HS2

These projects are part of Camden’s Community Investment Programme (CIP), our 15 year plan to invest much needed money into schools, homes and community facilities.

The most significant of our plans is Central Somers Town, this will deliver:

A much-needed new building for Edith Neville Primary School. There will be more play space for the children in the newly designed school.

New building and facilities for Plot 10 play project, including a new 5-a-side football pitch.

A new, permanent home for St Aloysius nursery

Improved open spaces with a joined-up park, more lighting, more planting, more trees and better landscaping.

136 new homes including 44 new social rented one for local families in housing need.

Planning permission has been granted for both the Central Somers Town project and the new Maria Fidelis secondary school. Both projects should  be starting construction over the coming months. These plans are subject to construction management plans and the council will be working hard to support residents through this period of change whilst allowing the schools and community facilities to operate and maintaining access to as much open space as possible.
