Fair Deal for London Alliance
About the Fair Deal for London Alliance
The London Alliance is a group of the capital’s MPs and councils brought together by Camden Council to call on the Government to grant “A Fair Deal for London” on HS2 compensation.
London stands to lose the most from HS2. Yet our residents and businesses have been given the worst compensation deal in the country and inadequate protection from more than a decade of disruption on their doorsteps.
The Government has recognised the need to provide a comprehensive and tailored compensation package for the countryside. Yet this is not mirrored in urban areas.
This means hundreds of London residents and businesses will be left out of pocket, forced to move from their homes and communities, or left to struggle against years of multiple construction works without sufficient protection.
The London Alliance does not think this is fair. We are calling on the Government to answer five requests to give us a fair deal.
A compensation charter for London
The Fair Deal for London Alliance has published its own compensation charter for London calling for extensive changes to the Government’s HS2 compensation scheme and for the creation of an independent panel to draw up and adjudicate on compensation schemes for major infrastructure projects.
