What is the strategy?

The strategy was developed from discussions with schools, governors and parents at the conference on 12 February 2008. Every primary school in Camden has been asked to agree it and use it to shape their work over the next few years.

The aim is to transform learning in primary schools. This transformation is supported by extra money in the form of capital investment.

Where does the money come from?

The extra money is available under the government’s Primary Capital Programme. This is a national initiative to help councils and schools drive forward their local strategies for change. We are also expected to find additional money to make this funding go further.

Which schools are eligible?

The investment is for all mainstream primary schools and special schools with primary age children.

Who decides which schools will get the money first?

There are government guidelines which set out the criteria for deciding. There are also locally agreed principles. The Primary Strategy for Change document sets out how the decisions are made.
